"Royal Blue" Announcements
  • Rookie Camp       July 25 & 26, 2014       1 - 5 p.m.                                                                                                                                               This camp is mandatory for ALL first year marchers. These two days will be used to introduce the "Rookie" band members to their section leaders and to give them time to learn basic marching fundamentals, warm-ups, and participate in team-building activities. There is no fee for this camp.

Music Camp         July 29—August 2, 2013     1 - 8 p.m. (1 – 5 p.m. on Wed.)
This camp is mandatory for ALL marching band members (7th – 12th grade). Students will learn this year’s halftime show music as well as a variety of stand music for the upcoming marching season. Music camp fee is $75. Students need to bring lunch and snacks to camp each day.

Marching Camp    August 5 – 9, 2013           1 - 8 p.m. (1 – 5 p.m. on Wed.)
This camp is mandatory for ALL marching band members (7th – 12th grade). Students will continue to learn the music for this year’s halftime show as well as the various drill sets for the show. Be sure to read the TIPS FOR BAND CAMP (listed in the pdf file below) to prepare your child for camp. Marching Camp fee is $75. Students need to bring lunch and snacks to camp each day.

• Performance for friends and family will be on Friday, August 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the band practice field. We will have a “cookout” following the performance for ALL students and families in the CSHS lunchroom. The “New Band Parent Orientation” will be held after the cookout. Please come to these events, they will definitely increase your child’s success and enjoyment of being part of the band when you show your support.

Please be sure to schedule all family vacations and outings around the camp schedule. It is very important that we have all students at the rehearsals to learn their music and drill sets. If there is a problem, (for example: finding your child a ride to and from camp, vacations, or camp fees), please email me at wjohnson@cccboe.org. Please leave your name, a short message, and a phone number where I can reach you.

The main reason band camp is held in the evening is due to the intense heat we have been having during spring/summer. I know this can be an inconvenience, but I hope this will prevent students from getting too sick due to heat during camp. We will be providing water to students, but I encourage them to bring to bring their own in coolers. Students are encouraged to bring Gatorade, Propel, or Powerade products, but DO NOT bring carbonated beverages! Have a great summer and let’s make next year a year to remember! If you have questions, please email me at wjohnson@ccboe.org
